Discover Sizzlin Sausage Diner, a friendly, no-frills eatery located at 109 Newbridge Rd, Antrim, Ballymoney BT53 6QN, United Kingdom. For anyone who appreciates hearty portions and familiar homemade cooking, this popular Ballymoney stop delivers the kind of straightforward food that feels genuinely comforting. From a food blogger’s perspective, Sizzlin Sausage Diner stands out for its traditional Northern Irish breakfasts, home-style lunches, approachable prices, and warm service rather than elaborate presentation.
The menu covers breakfast plates, Ulster-style fry-ups, sausages, eggs, soda bread, chips, sandwiches, fish and chips, roast dinners, pasta dishes, lasagne, and rotating daily specials. Typical spending is around £10–£20 per person, making it an accessible choice for breakfast, lunch, or an early dinner. The restaurant also offers takeaway, reservations, catering, seating suitable for groups and families, Wi-Fi, parking, a television, and wheelchair-accessible facilities.
For a first visit to Sizzlin Sausage Diner in Ballymoney, the Big Sizzling Brekkie is an obvious signature choice. It is a substantial Northern Irish-style breakfast packed with both carbohydrates and protein, designed for diners who arrive genuinely hungry. A particularly distinctive touch is the availability of vegetable roll alongside breakfast—a traditional local addition that is not always easy to find elsewhere.
Another dish worth watching for is the homemade lasagne, which appears among the restaurant’s specials. One diner described the cooking as “Simple home made food. Great variety to choose from,” before enthusiastically praising the lasagne. For something even more traditional, the Steak and Egg Breakfast provides the satisfying combination of grilled meat and eggs that fits the diner’s hearty, uncomplicated style.
Customer feedback is one of the strongest reasons to consider Sizzlin Sausage Diner. Recent diners repeatedly mention welcoming staff, quick service, value, and generous portions. One February 2026 Google reviewer wrote, “Nice friendly staff and good portions of fry for the price.” Another praised the food as well worth its price and quality. The main practical drawback mentioned recently is the condition of the car park, with potholes potentially making access less convenient for some wheelchair users.
Inside, the atmosphere is casual and distinctly local. This is not a polished fine-dining room; instead, it has the comfortable character of a traditional roadside café where regulars, families, and travellers can settle in without ceremony. Earlier customers have described it as having a “home from home” feeling, which captures its friendly personality well.
A special strength of Sizzlin Sausage Diner is its flexibility. Sunday lunches have long attracted loyal customers, children have their own menu choices, and breakfast diners can enjoy unusual local touches such as vegetable roll or even chips alongside their morning meal.
For anyone comparing the best restaurants in Ballymoney for affordable local dining experiences, Sizzlin Sausage Diner is particularly appealing for generous breakfasts, homemade comfort food, and friendly service. Such a cozy, welcoming place! This street-side restaurant has a wonderful, rustic vibe-.it’s not fancy or pretentious, but feels warm and homely, like a traditional country tavern. The staff are incredibly nice and friendly, and the food is just delicious, honest, traditional comfort food. We felt so comfortable here, literally just like at home. Highly recommend!
i had the best meal here the other day, but that wasn’t even the best part. the waiter who welcomed us in, was absolutely the most efficient and friendliest waiter i have ever had. she was everywhere all at once, running an extremely tight ship, whilst still being impeccably polite. best service i have ever had at a restaurant/diner ever before, would highly recommend.
Stopped here for a quick bite and was impressed by the great food and service we received. The staff were friendly and attentive, bringing me another knife right away without the need to ask after I dropped mine on the floor. We definitely will return again when passing.
Fantastic food , incredible staff ,8ve passed here hundreds of times ,but never had a chance to stop ,its fantastic and easy to pay , it's going to be my first port of call when up the north coast
Past it so many times always said I'd love to try this place. So today I did and wonder why I never did along time ago. Lovely decor inside and very friendly staff. Food was tasty and service was quick and efficient.. I didn't have anything to fault
Called today for lunch and served by Hayley she was lovely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This lady is certainly an asset to this restaurant and would definitely go back not just for the lovely lunch but Hayley made the experience even more enjoyable
Best meal we had in Northern Ireland! The menu is pretty standard with options to fill everyone to their content! Staff are super friendly & welcoming. This was one of the very few places that offered vegetable roll with their breakfasts. My husband & son were thrilled! They each ordered the Big Sizzling Brekkie & my son didn’t leave a crumb on his plate! My husband couldn’t finish all of the carbs but made a meal out of all the protein! I had standard eggs & soda bread with chips! I would have liked an extra egg but I know for next time! Will definitely visit here next time I’m in Northern Ireland!
Nice friendly staff and good portions of fry for the price. Quick service with a smile. Only thing didn't like was the carpark as in desperate need of resurfacing because of pot holes and could be difficult for wheelchair users.
